Black Girls Rock...And Its Hard!

Esh the Singer to perform at the Double Door in Chicago on March 3, 2012. She is a black girl that sings Rock music but is facing opposition and challenges because she is black.
Esh The Singer has been perfecting her craft for the past six years. She grew up with a love of music and not just R&B that her peers loved, but all music. She listened to and loved it all. But rock music touched something in her and spoke to her like no other genre. When she sang a rock song, it just “felt right”. Her friends and family thought it strange and encouraged her to pursue R&B or even Pop songs. American Idol judges were privileged to experience the energy that is Esh in 2010, but unfortunately she did not make it to the top 24. Esh was not discouraged. As with many other obstacles she has encountered she knew that American Idol wasn’t ready…yet.

Esh lets the love of music motivate her and even the “haters” adds to her fire. She often receives posts and emails stating that a black girl should rap and leave rock music to “white males”. Some would be hurt and discouraged but Esh is only determined to be the rock star that burns in her soul. She understands the huge task of taking on a male dominated genre and she has the chops to do it! Whether she is singing self penned, “Burn this House Down”; or adding her special blend of Soul to a standard rock cover, Esh is a rocker through and through.

Esh is performing on March 3, 2012 at the Double Door; one of Chicago’s well known rock clubs. She will be performing singles from her upcoming EP as well as fan favorite covers. When she opens her mouth there is always the initial surprise then the immediate head nod and body rock. Esh is winning fans over one by one. She doesn’t care if they are black or white, just that they have a love of great music!

Show starts at 8:00pm sharp, doors open at 7:00pm. Tickets are $8.00 and available at www.ticketfly.com. Also appearing is Jerome Holloway and Natalie Oliveri.
