The MDH “Pause for Patients’ Safety” program provided a system that encourages doctors and nurses in the Operating Room to utilize the MDH Patient Safety Checklist (PSC), thus ensuring that the patients’ safety is given utmost importance in any medical procedure done in MDH. It received one of the night’s highest distinctions – the Excellence Award.
Meanwhile, two of MDH’s projects, namely the “Get Involved! Everyone Can Save Lives! : Promoting a Safe Hospital Culture” and the ““Ngiting Maganda Dulot ay Saya” A Comprehensive Oral Health Program for Grade 2 Students of Epifanio Delos Santos Elementary School (EDSES) in Singalong, Manila” bagged two Merit Awards during the said ceremonies. The former provided employees with trainings and drills to equip them with invaluable skills and knowledge needed to respond to emergency cases, while the latter provided Grade 2 students of EDSES with a holistic dental intervention, which included detailed oral examinations, treatments and rehabilitations, and proper oral hygiene advocacy.
Last, but definitely not the least, MDH’s “3rd Doňa V. Tytana Memorial Lecture” and “Health Education thru Salamat Dok” – programs dedicated to help spread awareness and appreciation for the discipline of science and the care and compassion of the health care profession both bagged Finalist Awards during the 2011 Philippine Quill Awarding Ceremonies.
The Philippine Quill Awards is the country’s most prestigious and relevant award for business communicators organized by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines. The event recognized excellent communication programs and projects conceived and implemented by top local business communicators.
This year, the Metrobank Foundation Inc. won eleven Quill Awards, five of which were named after Manila Doctors Hospital for its hospital-wide programs and projects. MDH is the ONLY healthcare provider in the country to be recognized during the 2011 Philippine Quill Awards, a recurring feat of the hospital since last year’s Philippine Quill awarding ceremonies.
Manila Doctors Hospital is the Metrobank Foundation, Inc.’s (MBFI) healthcare arm. MBFI actively supports the Hospital’s operations and provides funds for a wide array of social services activities, such as subsidies for in-house charity patients, outreach programs and health-related interventions in adopted communities, and research. Re-certified as an ISO 9001:2008 institution, PhilHealth Level 4 accredited, and recently recognized as the first private hospital in Asia to be accredited by Accreditation Canada International (ACI), the Manila Doctors Hospital positions itself to become a key player in the growing medical tourism industry.
