United Airlines Announces New Irish Flights
Irish tourism recently received a positive boost in the form of a new flight route. The route is set to link Ireland to America through their respective capitals.
Sean Fenton, director of Enchanted Ireland Tours http://www.enchantedirelandtours.com welcomed the move by United Airlines saying that it is “Good news for 2012”.
The news comes as a major boost for Irish tourism and is set to provide a well needed influx of tourists for the upcoming summer months. According to reports the flights will be departing from Dulles Airport rather than Reagan International airport.
The aeroplane will hold a maximum of 180 passengers and will also have a premium economy section of fifty seats. This is the first airline flying to Ireland to offer the in-between category between economy and first class.
United Airlines have recently merged with Continental Airlines who already have flights to Ireland from Newark. The new route will go a long way to strengthen the links between the two countries.
The United Airlines news was broke simultaneously to the news of the Aer Aran ‘pull-out’ from Galway airport. The local airport may now have to effectively become a private airport as there will be no scheduled services. The new and improved motorway between Galway and Dublin is seen as a major factor in the departure of Aer Aran.
